STEP-BY-STEP

What to expect with a DDSN referral

STEP ONE

For a referral to be made call 1-800-289-7012 and leave a message.

STEP TWO

Someone from DDSN will get in touch with you. This may take a few days. They will conduct an over the phone screening with you. If your child meets the screening criteria, you will pick an agency to perform the intake process. Building Dreams Early Intervention/ Laurens County Disabilities and Special Needs Board is one of those choices.

STEP THREE

DDSN will send the name of your child and your information to the provider you choose (sometimes this can take up to a week). If you choose Building Dreams Early Intervention someone from our agency will be in touch within 48 hours of receiving your child's information from DDSN.

STEP FOUR

The provider you chose will collect information from you for an intake process that will be submitted back to DDSN. The agency will be a guide through that intake process.

STEP FIVE

Your family will be notified by DDSN after being submitted if your child qualifies. If your child is awarded eligibility, DDSN will have you choose your provider again.  You can select Building Dreams Early Intervention again if you wish to have services rendered with us. DDSN will then send that information to the provider.

STEP SIX

The provider, or Early Interventionist, will set up a meeting with your family to then create goals for your child and to discuss what services would be most helpful to you and your family.
